E coli bacteria have been around for a long, long time. It was not until the last 50 years of so that major outbreaks of E coli have brought this tiny microorganism to the forefront. While there have no doubt been major outbreaks of E coli throughout mankind’s history, it is only with worldwide communications and cooperative scientific research that this infection has become a well known issue. While E coli continue to effect humans with its symptoms, it will hopefully one day become a very rare disease as scientist continue to work on ways of preventing and curing the infection caused by E coli bacteria.
